Rangers don't need ele energy management.
They have Expertise.
By all means, use the Conjures from /E, but if you ever consider putting Meteor Shower, Fireball, Firestorm or Flare on your skillbar, please, uninstall.
Personally, I run /Mo most of the time. Mending Touch roXx

Nope. Touch spells actually go hand-in-hand with the main thing about Rangers - Expertise. It works on ALL touch-range skills, including Mending Touch and Necro touches.

rangers are one of the few classes that really dont need a secondary profession in order to excel on the battlefield. most other classes rely on skills from their secondary profession in order to reach their full potential, but rangers can excel fully with the right combination of their own skills. ive played with my ranger through all three games only relying on his ranger skills. if you use expertise, youll never need energy. i usually always go /mo for a hard rez, but thats the only skill ill take from my secondary profession. its really just a waste of a skill slot to take any other secondary skills, the ranger has all the skills they need to fill any role they need to in their group. just remember that expertise is a rangers best friend.

I find myself using about 5 or 6 secondry professions on a daily basis... I wouldn't say either is better tbh! It really all comes down to what i'm doing at the time as each has it's benefits. Though as was previously said a Ranger can be very self sufficient especially in general PvE... So Monk is quite a common secondry for Rangers as it allows a Hard res which is always good... Especially when you are playing in a PuG. Plus it opens up afew of the Monks minor heals and condition removals that go like cheese and pasta for a Ranger.

Pick-up Group - essentially, a bunch of random people pulled together to do a mission/whatever.

Some touch skills can affect the toucher/caster, yes.
If you have Prophecies you'll get many skills from quests. The skill trainers are slightly ahead, so they frequently have skills you will soon get from a quest. Wait with purchasing skills from them until you've advanced a few missions or until the next capital town.
Mesmer can be fun as secondary too.

I'll ask the second one again: where can I find a list of all the skills available in prophecies ?
and also: expertise only decrease energy costs... It's awsome, but that doesn't mean it makes a touch skill(or any other skill) SOOOOOOOO much more useful IMHO...
I'd rather have a good heal than some low-energy-cost necro's damaging touch skill, which will cause me to neglect my distant position as a n archer...
or am I getting wrong?

Touch rangers generally devote their entire bar to the build, and don't use a bow. Here's the old build if you're curious.
[skill]Vampiric Touch[/skill][skill]Vampiric Bite[/skill][skill]Offering of Blood[/skill][skill]Signet of Agony[/skill][skill]Plague Touch[/skill][skill]Dodge[/skill][skill]Whirling Defense[/skill][skill]Throw Dirt[/skill]
I often use a Rit secondary for splinter barrage or for brutal weapon+glass arrows which is awesome single target damage.

A Ranger can get all the self healing he needs from Troll. Monk healing spells shouldn't be used on a Ranger at all. Expertise doesn't work on non-touch spells, which most Monk heals are, and we only have 3 pips of energy regen. Not to mention we use a two handed weapon, which means no use of an Offhand. Most PvE mobs don't bring an interrupt. If they do, the Ranger has a ton of stances to stop physical interruption or to run away and heal up. Troll can be enhanced by runes, and the long casting time doesn't really matter unless you are just standing there taking a beating. If it's melee, then you just throw up a stance like I mentioned earlier. If it's elemental damage from a spell, then you still have that +30 armor against elemental damage. I'd be worrying more about what I was doing if you resort to spamming Monk heals. There are some exceptions to that, but they are very limited.
/Mo does have the advantage of a hard res, but that and Mending Touch/Purge Sig/Holy Veil I think are the only reason to go /Mo.
/Rt has Splinter Weapon, which is nice if you are going into an area with bunched up mobs.
/Ele has Conjure X.
Other than those that I can think of, there are special builds that rely on the attributes of a separate class, like toucher, thumper, or spear-chucker.

When it comes to Ranger secondaries the more the merrier. My main ranger has used them all. Paragon is nice with go for the eyes and keen arrow, Rit is nice for splinter weapon. I always use /mo in PUG so someone will have a hard rez besides the monks. I recently did the gate of pain with a PUG, I had resurrect on the bar and ended up doing all the rez's for the group. The monks apreciate it because they can concentrate on healing.
